(Part of the) Abstract

In the present research the attempt is to survey the formation of the growth and empowerment of the Shiites throughout the Middel East in conceptual framework of “Shiites crescent” propounded by Vali Nasr. Also attempt will be made, through deeply understanding of the complicated dynamics of the Middle East developments which in recent years tends from inter civilizational-inter governmental controversies to the intra civilizational-intra national disputes, the influence of the intra Islamic disputes on the future Middel East as well as the internatonal politics is discoverd. this paper will attempt to answer this main question that is the institutionalization of such concepts as the "Shiites crescent' in contradiction with the new Middle East plan requirements? For the US attempt to pave the ground for democracy in the Shiites dewelling countries like Iraq would cause vigilance in Muslims, specially the Shiites and would provoke their enthusiasm for a new type of “renovated Islamism” in the Middle East and would provide a new opportunity for revival of the shiit identity due to creating the possibility for formation of the “Shiites crescent” in the region. For example, if creating democracy in Saudi Arabia in line with the new Middle East plan results in manifesting the Shiites role, how such a self-identification would influence the structure and components of the Shiites power in the Middle East, and to what extent would jeopardize the international great powers’ interests in the region.
